WHO QUALIFIES AS A MAJOR DONOR?

According to State of California regulations, “if your contributions (including fundraising tickets, loans, and payments for goods or services) to or at the behest of state and local candidates and committees total $10,000 or more in a calendar year,” you are obligated to file as a Major Donor.

HOW DO I COMPLETE STATE REQUIREMENTS AS A MAJOR DONOR?

As a Major Donor Committee, you must follow the schedule of filing requirements for the year in which you have qualified.

There is a semi-annual reporting requirement.

The form you need to complete is a FORM 461.
This form must now be filed both ELECTRONICALLY and by HARD COPY.

Additional filing requirements, both hard copy and electronic, will apply to you if you give a contribution in the period that begins 17 days prior to an election.
